Happy Tails – Eddie the Border Collie

Eddie the Border Collie was found wandering the streets of Lafayette, He was wearing a nice John Deere collar but no tag and no Micro chip, he was not neutered and is Heartworm positive. Despite posters and flyers and calls to Animal Control nobody was looking for this awesome boy.

Finally PAAW took Eddie in. Thanks to Pharaby from Woofs ‘n Whiskers who gave him a safe place to sleep and eat for a couple weeks, thanks to Cheryl for her research with Border Collie Rescue, thanks to Carolyn who made the contact with Pilots n’ Paws, thanks to the 2 pilots that donated their time and money. And last, but not least, thanks to Jeri with Southeast Border Collie rescue in Florida who is taking in Eddie. Eddie will be a service dog soon either for a veteran or help a person with seizures. He will be a busy dog and hopefully find the right person who will appreciate his loving nature. Oh by the way – Eddie got out of his harness and laid on the pilots lap most of the flight. Good luck Eddie – you deserve it!

Happy Tails – Isabelle & Zadie Find Their Forever Home!

Yesterday, we received some WONDERFUL NEWS!!! Former PAAW foster senior Scottish Fold cats, Isabelle and Zadie, have been adopted from Best Friends!

PAAW volunteers traveled in August of 2010 to bring Isabelle and Zadie to Best Friends in Kanab, Utah. Their story was first posted here on this website in July.

The announcement of Isabelle and Zadie’s adoption and photo below was posted at Best Friend’s Cat World FaceBook page.

Isabella and Zadie, two Scottish Fold sisters, who came to Benton’s House in August of 2010, left today for their forever home in Colorado. The 11 year old sisters lived with a breeder for most of their lives until the breeder became ill and could no longer care for them. They went to a rescue group and were adopted, but returned after a very short time for being “too shy”. Isabella and Zadie then came to Best Friends.

This picture of the girls was taken on their first sleepover in October by volunteer Stephanie. It shows how in sync they are with each other, same pose, same expression, and certainly expresses the close bond Zadie and Isabella share. And now they are together in their own furrever home!!

Two PAAW Rescues Adopted at Cat Show!

PAAW was invited to come to the Evangeline Cat Fanciers Cat Show with adoptable cats and kittens at the Heyman center in Lafayette, LA on November 7th. & 8th. It was fun and we met great people and for sure awesome cats. We also found a home for a sweet sealpoint Siamese mix kitten on Saturday and Sophie the Snowshoe mix kitten on Sunday. Sophie was once abandoned at Walmart and now she will be a SHOW cat. Isn’t that a great career? Here are their adoption photos!

We love sharing “Happy Tails” about the dogs and cats that we adopt out. We recently received this email from Boudin’s new family, along with some photos, and are very delighted to hear things are going so well!

Hello, I recently adopted “Boudin” on Saturday and was just updating to let you guys know that she’s doing great! She came out of her shell within the evening that she was brought home. She gets along fine with her new brother, Sir Walter. We’ve renamed her to Naoki, which is japanese for an upright tree, because she’s got a thin frame like a twig. She’s very playful, and REALLY loves sleeping on me. She’s eating fine and she figured out where the litter box was within a few minutes of her homecoming. We met with her foster mom and she seemed really nice, and we got her favorite toy with her now. Although, she has decided to trade in the little toy for a star chaser. She’s really affectionate and pretty outgoing, but really clumsy! Everytime she tries to jump from the couch to the computer chair she either overjumps it or falls short. It’s very cute. Thank you guys for allowing us to give her a permanant home. We already love her.
